LIONS CLUB OF T.NAGAR

Highlights & Activities report for the month of OCTOBER 2009

On behalf of our President MJF Ln.K.Ravikumar and members of our L/C OF T.Nagar, I have pleasure in submitting our projects in detail.

HIGHLIGHTS

"Picnic with a Purpose"
A 50 member Group partcipated in the “Picnic with a Purpose” to Munnar from October 1st to Octber 3rd. The Team had a wonderful and rejuventing picnic to Munnar. Absolutely cool journey with abundance friendship and fellowship, despite torrential rains. The Total Cost of the Trip is Rs.142000/-. Thanks to all the participants in providing their extensive support in the Family Picnic Trip by all means.

1st Regular Meeting
The 1st Regular Meeting on 2nd October at the Conference Hall, Sterling Resorts, Munnar - Family Recreation Meeting -Participants 50 member Group comprising of lions, lion ladies, lady lions and cubs. Competititve programs conducted and prizes were distributed. Abundance Fellowship especially - Cubs and Lion Ladies had a Great Event Time with 100% Enthusiasm. Also conducted an Inter State Inter District Inter Club Joint Meeting with Lions Club of Munnar and Lions Club of Adimaly of Lions International District 324 E4.

2nd Regular meeting
We Participated at Cultural Meet and Awards Nite at Chettinad Vidhyashram, RA Puram, Chennai 600028, on 4th October. Our Club bagged half a dozen awards as under: Our Club is one Among the Top Seven Clubs in our District.

ACTIVITIES

Ayurvedic Camp
On 2nd October 2009 - Gandhi Jayanthi Day - An Inter State - Inter District - Inter Clubs Project of Ayurvedic Medical Camp conducted at Lions Club English Medium School, Munnar - a School run by Lions Club of Munnar. The Clubs participated along with Lions Club of T Nagar are Lions Club of Munnar and Lions Club of Adimaly. Lion Dr Veerachozhan and Lion Lady Dr Shareena chozhan both with full dedication attended the 120 patients duly expressing their satisfaction after a long gap of two years.

Cost : Rs.13000/-
No of Beneficiaries : 120 persons
Venue : Lions Club English Medium School, Munnar, Kerala.

Project on World Service Day:
Our club had participated in the World Service Day Project. Around 1500 were given a Diabetes Detection & Awareness at Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus, Koyambedu. This is a Project of Region V and our Club's Contribution towards this Project is Rs.2000/-. The District Governor participated in the Project.

Project for Adi Dravida Welfare
A Project arranged at Adi Dravida Welfare (Anganwadi) School. Our President Ln K Ravikumar donated Two Ceiling Fans and Tube Light Fittings worth Rs.2250/-. Deepavali Festival New Colourful Cloths were distributed worth Rs.4000/- It was also announced that a 500 Litre Sintex Black water Tank (Cost Rs.2500 )to be erected inside the School replacing the existing damaged existing one. Lion Lady Mrs. Usha Ravikumar sponsored 4 Kgs. of sweet packets worth Rs.1200/-. Ln T Selvakumar month on month spends Rs.3000 towards the Salary of the Teacher for the school. Other Contirbutions from Ln MJF S Raman - Rs.5000 , Ln MJF D Gopinathan Rs.5000 and Rs.2000 from Mrs. Meera Rajaram, Daughter of Ln D Gopinathan.

No of Beneficiaries : 19 Children.
Venue : Adi Dravida Welfare School at Kodambakkam (near Ragavendra Kalyana Mandapam).

Dine with divine
On the eve of Deepavali, our club members Ln MJF.V S Ravikumar, Ln MJF S.Raman, and Ln MJF R.Ramamurthi had donated around 150 Kgs. of rice to the Inmates of Anbukkarangal, Kottivakkam. Rice Procured from their Farm.

"Prevent Blindness India" – An Eye Camp
We have conducted a successful 5th eye screening camp for the month of October organized with Udhi Eye Hospitals, Alwarpet. First VDG Ln MJF R Ravichandran inaugurated the Camp. It is a Joint Project done alongwith Lions Club of Ambattur, a Club in Lions International District 324 A5.

Cost : Rs.13,000/-
No of Beneficiaries : 150 Persons – Spects were given – 40 nos., Cataract – 8 persons.
Venue : Ambattur Lions Club Middle School, Saligramam, Chennai 600093.
