Let us Help the anganwadi School at Kodambakkam
For over a year I have been personally helping the anganwadi school at
Kodambakkam in terms of providing the things that are required from time to
time and also paying salary for one teacher @ 1500 p.m. and paying for water
can for drinking purpose @ Rs.1000/- p.m.
Last year our Ln.Vijayakumar - ZC has been kind enough to donate 32 sets of
beautiful readymade dress for the school children on the eve of Diwali 2008.
Ln.Rajesh kumar- President and self has donated the stationery items and
other material as reqd by them on the eve of Sarawathi Puja 2008.
Ln.Raman, Ln.V.S.Ravikumar and Ln.Rammoorthy also had visited the school and
made note of their basic necessities and assured the school and myself that
they will take up the matter with District as last year district focus was
primarily on School projects. Unfortunately nothing could take place.
Let me explain the background of the school.
The school currently has only 15 students who are from the bottom most
section of the society. Last year strength was 31 students.
The school lack water for cooking purpose (for preparation of mid day meals)
The school lack water for toilets
The kids do not have proper notebooks and other writing instruments
The kids are from the lower most rung of our society and some of them used
to be rag pickers at their tender age.
My heart cries when I see these young ones deprived of basic amenities and
are the special children of GOD. (yes if they have nothing they can't ask
for anything and they become GOD own children)
While I can continue help the school within my limits I am writing this mail
to invite our club and the members to kindly do their bit of service.
According to them they require the following:
1) One big drum with a hose for storing water from near by public toilet
for the toilet use and other washing purpose
2) 3 nos of Plastic pots to fetch water for cooking purpose
3) 2 nos of small buckets for toilets
4) 4 nos tube lights with fittings
5) 2 nos FAN
6) Note books and writing instruments
Beside this they want the following on recurring basis (monthly)
1) One care taker for children on a salary of Rs.1500/-
2) Sweeper charges of Rs.500/-
3) Drinking water charges of Rs.1000/-
4) Water charges for Midday meals - Rs.300/-
5) Electricity charges for water - Rs. 300/-
